Arthur L. Olsen passed away on April 30, 2017. Born to Danish immigrants Louis and Kirstine Olsen on July 31, 1919, in Troy, New York, Art grew up during the Depression then ventured to Lawrence, Kansas to earn a degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Kansas. While working at Phillips Petroleum Company in Amarillo Texas, Art met Maurine Tramill, who would be his wife for 65 years. They later settled in Wichita, Kansas, where Art changed careers to auto sales. He later owned a Dodge dealership in Junction City, Kansas, then moved to Springfield, Missouri, and Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Herbert and Robert, of Troy, New York.
Art is survived by his daughter, Sandra Becker, grandchildren, Kirstina and Wiley, and great-granddaughter, Tierney, as well as nephews, Peter Olsen, Robert Wise, Jay Wise and Dan Wise.
Art brought a smile to all he met , and all will smile when they think of him.
In memory of Art donations may be made to the scholarship fund of the Engineering Department of Kansas University.
