Carolyn Elizabeth Edwards, 90, of Madison died Friday, February 24, 2017 at her home. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, William Howell Edwards; a daughter, Elizabeth Spradley (Jack), Jacksonville; a son, William Howell Edwards, Jr. (Diane), Marietta Georgia; three beloved grandsons, Daniel Edwards, Smyna, Georgia; David Edwards, Atlanta Georgia; Will Edwards, Jacksonville Florida; and several nieces and nephews. Her parents, Lamar and Mary Adams and a brother, David Adams, precede her in death.
Carolyn was born in Leesburg, Florida and graduated from Leesburg High School. She received her B.S. degree from Florida Southern College and her Masters degree from the University of Florida.
She taught at Wildwood High School from 1946-1950 and at Madison High School from 1950 until she retired in 1982. She touched the lives of hundreds of students during her teaching career.
She was a faithful member of Madison First Baptist Church; Madison Woman’s Club; Madison Garden Club and Delta kappa Gama International Society. She enjoyed gardening; painting with watercolor and oils; playing Bridge; and handwork, especially hardanger and tatting.
Beggs Funeral Home in Madison (850-973-2258) will conduct funeral arrangements. Visitation will be Monday, February 27,2017 from 5:00 -7:00pm at Beggs Chapel. Funeral services will be at 2:00 on February 28,2017 First Baptist Church Madison. Internment at Oak Ridge cemetery. Contributions may be made to First Baptist Church (Building Fund) P.O. Box 307, Madison, Florida or to a charity of your choice.
