Frances passed away peacefully Thursday, March 16 at the Lakeview Manor Assisted Living Facility where she has been a resident since 2013. She was the third of six children born to Albert Morgan and Lela Vaughn Morgan in Piggott, AR. Her father, a sharecropper, died when she was six and her mother struggled raising a family during the Depression.
Frances moved to Anderson, Indiana just before the war where she lived at the YWCA, and took a factory job at Nicholson File. Robert Thomas Swartz caught his “bird” after a short courtship on May 16, 1943. They built a home in Van Buren and later relocated to Lexington, Ky, raising four children: Karl, Karen, David, and Barbara. Frances enjoyed music, cooking, sewing, and gardening, but most of all, being a Mother and Grandma.
Frances and Bob retired to Eustis, Fl, where she remained active in church, social and charitable activities before moving to Orlando in 2002 and focusing on being a Grandmother to her 17 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. In addition to her children, Frances is survived by her brother, Albert Jackson Morgan of Bryan, TX.
We extend a special thanks to our friends, the staff at Lakeview Manor, who have been family to Frances for the last four years. We appreciate the loving care that you provided to our Mother and we are forever in your debt. Thank you so much and God bless you!
Honorary donations may be made in Frances’ name to the Cornerstone Hospice & Palliative Care Foundation at donate.cshospice.org or the Alzheimer’s association at alz.org. A graveside service open to the public will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 22 at Greenwood Cemetary in Eustis, FL. For additional information contact David Swartz, email@example.com.
