Raymond Michael Matot, Jr., age 70, of Port Charlotte, FL, passed away Friday, November 23, 2018, in Port Charlotte.
Raymond, or Ray, as he was known to family and friends, was born in Buffalo, NY in July of 1943 to the late Raymond M. and Rita M. Matot. At a young age, not long after graduating from high school, Ray heeded his nations call to arms during the Vietnam War and joined the United States Army. Following his time in the military, Ray married his beloved wife Denise, and together they had two children. In 1982 Ray and his family moved southward from Cheektowaga, New York, to Southwest Florida, settling in the Port Charlotte area, were he would eventually go on to enjoy a long career as a Realtor with Coldwell Banker Sunstar Realty, eventually retiring as their Vice-President. The sunny days of Southwest Florida allowed Ray to pursue one of his favorite pastimes when not spending time with his family, Golf, which both he and Denise enjoyed very much.
A former member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Port Charlotte, and a former member of various local social and service organizations thru the years, Ray continued to actively participate in American Legion Post No. 110, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 5690, both of Port Charlotte.
Ray is survived by his beloved wife Denise E. Matot, and his children, son and daughter-in-law Jason Raymond and Carissa Matot, and daughter and son-in-law Kimberly (Matot) and Ty Wymore; two grandchildren, Cierra and Joseph; a sister, Carol Matot Mercurio; a brother, Michael Matot; and numerous nieces and nephews.
