John Quincy Boatright II, age 68, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2019. He was born in Jacksonville Florida on March 28, 1951, to Jasper O’Neal Boatright and Cornelia (Marable) Boatright. John graduated from the University of Florida in 1974 with a degree in Pharmacy. John worked as a registered pharmacist at multiple pharmacies throughout Florida, settling at Cheek Pharmacy in Cross City, Florida. In 2004 John became part owner of Cheek Pharmacy, and sole owner in 2014. John stayed at Cheek Pharmacy until July of 2018, when he retired. On July 6, 2013, John married Maureen Ray in a private ceremony on a beach in Nassau, Bahamas. John had a big heart and was known by all as a kind and unconditionally loving man. John loved to make people laugh, one of his biggest joys was playing practical jokes on others.
John was preceded in death by his mother, father, and his brother, Joel. He is survived by his wife Maureen Boatright, his son: Matthew Boatright of Mayo, FL, two brothers: Harold (Cindy) Boatright, Missouri City, TX, Allen (Connie) Boatright, Tallahassee, FL, sister-in-law: Mary Mahone Boatright, Valdosta, GA, two aunts; Geraldine Gamble and Sarah Baker, step-daughters: Michelle Cannon, Trenton, FL, Ashley (Zach) Melton, King George, VA, Katie Cannon, Tallahassee, FL, three granddaughters; Kiley, Sophia, and Willow; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, August 18th at Daniels Memorial Chapel. There will be a visitation held prior to the service at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers family request that donations be made to American Heart Association.
