Barbara Lou Bueno, 79, a resident of Cape Coral, Florida for the past 28 years, formerly of Columbus, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2019 in Cape Coral. She was born August 6, 1940 in Youngstown, Ohio to Roy and Harriet Thomas, now deceased.

She married her best friend and love, Dennis Charles Bueno, in June 1967. For 52 years, she danced through life with Dennis, raising their family in Ohio before making their home in Cape Coral in 1991. Both Barbara and Dennis were long time members of Grace United Methodist Church.

Barbara was humble and kind, enjoyed leading a simple life, a world built around her Dennis and their three sons Jeff, Brian and Greg. She was the ultimate soccer mom, driving everyone to their practices, never missing a game or life event, always putting her own interest second. From her famous Barbara’s bowl-shaped home haircuts, to doing all the little daily life things to express her love and loyalty as a trusted confidant. Barbara’s greatest masterpiece was presiding over a family which she led by her simple, frugal, quiet level of integrity.

She was a loving grandmother to five wonderful grandchildren Tyler, Justin, Alexandra, Zachary and Jordan. She LOVED loving them, staying engaged in their lives and celebrating their successes. From mailing them monthly “spending cash” to getting so much joy from just being in close touch with their lives.

For many years, Barbara worked in the Wilmington School District as a cook, where she was the school favorite, always flashing her kind, friendly smile. In her golden years, she worked as a supervisor for the Lee County Elections Office and as an assistant with the Grace Church Thrift Shop.  Through all her years of employment, she always stayed true and first to her preferred favorite job of being the best wife, mother and grandmother to her pride and joys.  Her close-knit family and friends were EVERYTHING to her.

On January 19, 2016, Barbara was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic cancer. Through daily struggles of diminishing health, she always maintained hope, never gave up.  Her will to live, was driven by her desire to spend more time with her beloved family, which in turn inspired everyone who was blessed to cross her path.

Barbara is survived by her beloved husband  Dennis Bueno of Cape Coral; three loving sons, Jeff Waller (Debbie) of Wilmington, Ohio, Brian Bueno (Susan) of Wilmington, Ohio, and Greg Bueno of Fort Myers, Florida; sister, Nancy Pannunzio (Andrew) of Estero, Florida; four grandchildren, Tyler, Zachary, Justin, and Alexandra; as well as one great grandchild, Jordan.

Please join the family for A Celebration of Life Service to be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Grace United Methodist Church, 13 SE 21st Place, Cape Coral, FL 33990 with Pastors Wes Olds and Patti Nemazie officiating.
