Dr. Keith Wickham Mattison posted Sep 15, 2014 – 1:58:08pm DELTONA – Dr. Keith Wickham Mattison, Lieutenant Colonel, 92, passed away Sept. 3, 2014. A Memorial Service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at Deltona Presbyterian Church, 2300 Howland Blvd. Dr. Mattison was born in Dewittville, New York, on Nov. 27, 1921, to Earl and Hanna Carolina Mattison. Keith graduated from Union City High School in Pennsylvania in 1940, and attended Mansfield State Teachers College for one year. When Pearl Harbor was bombed in December 1941, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Forces and became a military fighter pilot. He fought in the Pacific Theater during World War II, and was wounded in action in the Battle of Saipan. He was awarded the Purple Heart, the Air Medal, the Distinguished Flying Cross, and an Oak Leaf Cluster during his military career. Keith married Florence Larsen Mattison during the war. They had four children: two sons, Jan, who is deceased, and Dennis, who resides in San Diego; and two daughters, Carol Lynn Stewart, who resides in Berkeley, California, and Barbara Nelson, residing in Hawaii. After the war, he returned to college at Lehigh University and received his Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering. During his career, he was employed as an engineer in rocket research, weapons-systems research, and as a systems safety engineer at General Electric, Lockheed Marietta and Stanford Research Institute. Keith received his MBA at Auburn University in 1969, and earned his Doctor of Philosophy in industrial psychology in 1976 at California Western University. He was married to Virginia Gettman, who died in 1996. In 2006, he married Carol Parker Seelinger. Accent Cremation Consultants was in charge. Edward William Gresh
